Health & Safety

At UNITE we take the wellbeing and safety of our customers, employees and suppliers extremely seriously which is why all our properties have CCTV and secure door entry systems as well as 24 hour security cover through our Emergency Control Centre and roving City Security teams.

UNITE adopt a robust and proactive monitoring system across all sites in its portfolio. Our onsite inspections include independent audits, daily building patrols and health and safety risk assessments which are carried out by our City teams supported by our Health and Safety team.

A safe building is the cornerstone of a safe living and working environment and at UNITE our monitoring procedures are essential to the maintenance and safety standards that we adhere to across all of our buildings.

Our in-house Health and Safety team is an essential and integrated part of our business and supports our City teams in maintaining a high level of compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. We adhere to, and are a founding member of, the ANUK Code of Conduct which aims to ensure that accommodation facilities provided for students meet a transparent set of management standards and are accountable for those standards.

We continuously strive to provide a first class health and safety service for our customers, employees and suppliers and recent innovations include the establishment of a remotely monitored lone working procedure for our employees to secure their safety at all times.

Additionally, to ensure the welfare and security of our customers we work closely in partnership with universities across the UK as well as other governing bodies, for example, Avon Fire and Rescue Service with whom we have a Lead Authority Partnership Scheme.
