Unite secures planning approval for new Coventry site – 12 April 2016

10 November 2016

The Unite Group plc, the UK’s leading developer and operator of student accommodation, yesterday (10/04/16) received planning consent for a high quality 391 bed student property in Coventry city centre.

The site is located on Hales Street in the Lady Herbert’s Garden Conservation Area, only a short walk to Coventry University campus and close to public transport links. The scheme will have a total development cost of around £25 million.

The property will consist of 3 blocks, made up of 79 studio and cluster flats totalling 391 bedrooms and will range in height up to a maximum of 11 storeys.

Unite Students currently operates three properties in Coventry, providing a home for approximately 1,200 students in the city.

Richard Simpson, Unite Students Managing Director – Property commented:

“We are delighted to have received planning consent for our new Millennium View development. The site has been empty for over a decade, and after working closely with the Council and our partners, it will be great to see the space come back to life.

“The new development will benefit students and local residents alike, spurring on the regeneration of the whole area. As well as providing high quality, safe and secure accommodation for students the development will help ease pressure on private residential housing in the area.”
